Art, Design, & Media
In 2021, the All Our Kin Collective was created under the title “the All Our Relations Indigenous Language Revitalization Hub.” Fort Lewis College students Laurel Grimes (‘23, Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma) and Lauryn Baldwin (‘23, Iñupiaq) joined the project with the first round of student fellows in 2022. Both were students in FLC’s Native American & Indigenous Studies, Communication Design, and Studio Art departments. Utilizing their educational interests, their fellowship project focused on designing an identity for the collective that was intertribal, innovative, and vibrant. They recognized that the visual presentation of the AOKC should align with AOKC’s values and goals, and contribute to fostering a welcoming space for the vulnerability and growth of language learners from the diverse expanse of Indigenous cultures and communities. The culmination of their fellowship was the development of a logo and style guide, including a new organization name and updated mission statement.

Laurel Grimes has since stayed with the AOKC to develop digital media materials for continuing projects in collaboration with subsequent student fellows and team members. Some of these materials can be seen below.
